At what age should my child start brushing their teeth?

You should start cleaning your child’s teeth when they first erupt in their mouth. You don’t need to use a toothbrush at first, a moist towel can be used to remove plaque and debris after feedings in infants. Do not use a fluoride containing toothpaste for children under the age of 2 years, and then only use a pea size amount on the toothbrush. It is important to brush at least twice a day. Children that brush less are at greater risk of tooth decay.
