It's Day 7 of our journey, and we've hit our first zero day! After a challenging start, we've devised a plan to take it easy and prevent injuries. The group heading out today will cruise to Idyllwild, while the rest of us will take a well-deserved break. We even had a trail angel pay for our breakfast at Soups & Such, a delightful surprise! I indulged in pancakes, watching my spending after yesterday's shoe purchase. We spent the day relaxing, soaking our feet, and organizing our gear. I even sent postcards to North Carolina and Indiana from the Post Office. Boostie and I then struggled with printing fire permits at the library, a frustrating but necessary task. We met up with the others taking a zero day, sharing a room and showering together. The highlight of the evening was watching a mountain lion video sent by a hiker who had returned to the trail. It's fascinating to see the wildlife we encounter along the way. As we rest and recover, we prepare for the next phase of our journey, eager to explore more of the trail's wonders.
